NETWORKING

Networking is at the heart of TWIN2PIPSA, aiming to foster strong connections and collaboration among participants, creating a vibrant community where knowledge and best practices can be shared. Through various initiatives, such as a kick-off meeting to ignite discussions and knowledge exchange, scientific staff exchanges with our international research partners, regular digital networkwide events, and a final conference, we strive to cultivate an environment that nurtures innovation and promotes excellence in research.

RESEARCH

Our project aims to investigate protein-protein interactions and self-assembly in the fields of biomedicine and biotechnology. The project focuses on two areas of research: 1) studying novel chaperones and antibody fragments that regulate microtubule dynamics and the pathological aggregation of tau, and 2) exploring bioadhesive proteins inspired by sea urchins. The research activities will involve the exchange of staff and students between partner laboratories to conduct experiments and develop necessary skills, and to facilitate the continuation of research at the FC.ID/ULisboa laboratories.

TRAINING

The primary goal of this initiative is to provide training opportunities for staff members, PhD students, junior staff, and students from both Faculty of Sciences/ULisboa and the partner institutions. Specifically, the aim is to deliver three training schools on strategic topics within the field of protein science, in addition to offering on-site training sessions to enhance practical skills and knowledge.

INNOVATION

TWIN2PIPSA aims to promote innovation and strengthen connections with industry. It seeks to foster a proactive mindset among researchers, encouraging creative solutions to biomedical and biotechnological challenges. By connecting academia, the scientific ecosystem, and industry, the project enhances science and innovation capacities, improving the competitiveness of the Portuguese and European R&I system and creating career opportunities for PhD candidates. The project envisions a national CoLab in protein science and participation in MSCA Industrial Doctoral Networks to bolster collaborations and expertise in protein characterization, benefiting sectors like the pharmaceuticals and food industries.
